Incredible!
Wow! I'm back from the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago this past weekend and it was phenomenal! There were so many activities planned, it was hard to decide where to go sometimes, but I do want to thank the following sections and groups for hosting events:
- The AT graciously sponsored my attendance at the Annual Meeting & Luncheon where FTC Chairwoman Deborah Platt Majoras spoke*. I was also able to attend the 15th annual Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Awards Luncheon where Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and 5th Circuit Chief Judge Carolyn Dineen King were among the honorees.
- The Section of Litigation hosted two networking events with special invites for JIOP Participants at the Mid-America Club in Aon Center and the Roof Top Terrace at Millennium Park.
- The State Bar of Texas hosted a reception for Texas ABA officers and appointees at the Signature Room at the 95th in John Hancock Center.
- The Sections of Intellectual Property and Science & Technology co-hosted a reception at the Four Seasons.
- The LSD and AT co-sponsored our "Why Antitrust?" session at the Downtown Marriott. A big thank you to our panelists - I wish I could have stayed!
I was also able to attend a few interesting programs, including the 2005 AT Update "What All Lawyers Must Know", the Judicial Division's "Current Issues in Courtroom Technology," and the Litigation Section's "Why Women Make Better Lawyers" following the Margaret Brent Awards.
Needless to say, I had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people from around the country in a whirlwind of meetings and activities. Special thanks to ABA Staff members Joanne Travis, Deborah Douglas, Angelica Spyres, Margaret Stafford, Daina Saib, Sharyne Tu, and Gail Howard for making this trip memorable!
I will be looking forward to seeing everyone again in Hawaii next year (if not sooner)!
